YOGA
Yoga is meditation. It is an ancient practice, and ancient way of life that aims to reduce suffering by allowing us to get to know our selves. The lack of Self knowledge, according to Patanjali is the root cause of suffering.
Yoga isn’t merely a workout or a physical practice. Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root letters YUJ - to unite. And as such it is a unification of various aspects: body and soul, breath and movement, human and divine, individual and collective.
Rolling the mattress is the practice. It is a clean act of allowing the deepening of self knowledge. As the third limb of eight, according to Ashtanga Yoga, the Physical practice (Asana) is aimed to meddle and reconcile the other limbs.
As an Ashtanga Yoga teacher, my focus is the breath, the gaze and the movement. Developing a deep relationship with the body allows a familiar practice every day, where we get to meet our different daily versions in it.
