Matan

Picking up his first camera at 12, Matan has cultivated an attention to aesthetics from a young age. His practice as a gymnast, a ballet dancer and a soldier strengthened his love for motion, body language, nature and human condition. Matan is inspired by photographers such as Cartier Bresson and Ansel Adams, Sebastia Salgado and Nadar. From shooting festivals, landscapes, portraits and abstract photography, Matan seeks the beauty of those moments in life that carry emotional information. Still life that can send shivers down one’s spine, or eyes that contain the mysteriousness of life. Featured in multiple publications, and holding photography exhibitions in New York, Matan sees the camera as a tool for learning, a teacher of exploration. “The camera teaches me how to observe, the lens shows me the way to the details. I will forever be the student of light.”
